Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution Research Institute of Fundamental and Clinical Immunology
The Institute was set up in 1981.
The main research effort is concentrated on: the molecular and cellular mechanisms of the control of immunity functions in health (immunophysiology) and disease (immunopathology); the types of the human immune system on the basis of pheno- and genotypic features of the immune status of man; elaboration and introduction of methods for the diagnosis, treatment and prophylaxis of immunity dysfunction and related diseases.
Research Institute of Fundamental and Clinical Immunology is the only Russian academic immunology institution which carries out basic research in the sphere of clinical and experimental immunology on the basis of which the Hospital of Immunology was created. The Hospital includes 5 units and Interregional Center of Marrow Transplantation. The Center is the only scientific medical establishment beyond the Urals, which performs the marrow transplantation in treatment of oncohemotological diseases. Besides, within thee framework Clinic the Center of cytokinotherapy was opened. The specialists of the Institute developed new methods of diagnostics, forecast and treatment of diseases linked with the immunity disruption, in particular – secondary immune deficiencies such as obstructive bronchitis, chronic herpes virus infection, chronic furunculosis, ets.
New methods of cell therapy have been developed in the Institute. These methods include: dendritic cells vaccines for treatment oncological and infectious diseases, xenoantigenic vaccines for treatment cancer patients, T-cellular vaccines for treatments autoimmune diseases. New stem cells technology to stimulate tissue repair has been developed for the patients with cirrhosis, spinal cord injury and brain trauma. An addition, new methods of co-transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells and mesenchymal cells has been applicated in the treatment of hemablastosis and autoimmune diseases.
